Specialized Economics and Law School

Specialized Economics and Law School was founded in 1991.

SELS carries out training of children from 1st to 11th forms.

SELS works 5 days a week; the number of children in a class is up to 24 pupils.

School-leavers get certificates of secondary education of the state standard and enter KhUH PUA out of a competition (by the recommendation of the teachers' meeting).

SELS is aimed at creating conditions for the formation of the child's personality, purposeful developing his abilities that are so necessary for adaptation to a quickly changing world:

1. Ability to learn all life.

2. To accept and generate changes.

3. To think critically and be able to make a choice.

4. To communicate with children of the same age and work in a team.

5. To take care of society, country, environment.

SELS provides teaching of pupils according to the state curricula, standards and requirements; it has three traditional stages of education:

Stage I (primary school, years 1-4) – provides complete and all-round development of a child in close cooperation with parents on the basis of differentiation and individualization.

Stage II (basic school, years 5-9) – provides pupils` mastering of curricula, creates conditions for formation and development of the pupil's personality, his abilities and interests.

Stage III (high school, years 10-11) – provides intensive specialized training of pupils on the chosen profile on the basis of the achieved level of general knowledge and practical skills.

Competitive advantages of the school:

Highly qualified pedagogical staff: out of 41 teachers of the school 6 specialists are Higher School teachers, including 3 Candidates of Science, 1 post-graduate student, 26 teachers of the highest category, 10 teachers-methodologists; 8 teachers have the status of «Senior Teacher», 6 teachers have the title of «Excellence in Education of Ukraine».

  • High quality of education: 57 pupils (21%) of 2nd-11th forms have a high level of studying achievements in all the subjects in the academic year of 2013/2014. The pupils of SELS are the winners of All-Ukrainian olympiads, international competitions, Junior Academy of Science competitions at district and regional levels. All SELS-leavers enter the most prestigious national and foreign Universities.
  • Possibility to engage in scientific and research work at Junior Academy of Science under the guidance of leading teachers of KhUH PUA and getting high achievements as a result.
  • Intensive learning of Economics, Law, English, the second foreign language (German, French, Spanish) on the basis of innovative educational technologies and the latest computer programmes.
  • Participation of high school students in the project «School of Business», their acquaintance with the basics of business and enterprise, gaining practical experience.
  • Work of study groups «Eureka» and «Logic», Chess Club, optional and special courses in mathematics within the programme «Formation of Mathematical Culture of Pupils».
  • Work of full-time day school.
  • Possibility of language probation in England, Canada, the USA, France.
  • Authors' curricula in Economics, Law, English.
  • Preparing pupils for taking Cambridge exams of different levels.
  • Individual approach to each pupil, small classes (up to 20 pupils).
  • Possibility to enter KhUH PUA on preferential terms (the profile specialties of SELS: economics, law, foreign languages).
  • Modern material and technical base providing every pupil with a personal computer at the information science lessons.
  • Possibility to use the materials of Information Centre of Science and Humanities (the library with a total fund of more than 200 thousand books) and Centre of Russian Culture.
