The Chair is one of the main ones within the Department of Social Management (founded in 1995). The members of the Chair lecture on a number of general knowledge and professionally - oriented disciplines providing a versatile education to students of human resources management, as well as special courses in general psychology, social psychology, deviant behaviour psychology, psychological foundations of establishing organizations and private persons image making, psychological foundations of human resources management, social organizations psychology and others.

At the Departments of Business Administration and Translation and Interpreting, the Chair members teach courses of ‘‘Psychology and Pedagogy”, “Administrative Work Organization”, “Psycholinguistics” (to students of the Translation and Interpreting Departments); “Human Resources Management”, “ Psychology of Business Communication”(to students studying for their Master`s degree at the Department of Business Administration). The teachers of the Chair have designed a number of optional courses (most popular with the students) aimed at improving the communicative competence of future professionals. No less active and effective is the work of the teachers at the Post-graduate Education and of Additional Specialization Departments; other activities include conducting seminars and training courses for the personnel of various organizations; advising students on personal and professional matters.

At the moment, the teaching staff of the Chair includes: N. P. Goga, Ph. D. (Psychology), Y. V. Miloslavskaya, Ph. D. (Psychology), O.V. Mushinskaya, Ph. D. (Psychology), Y. L. Tverdokhvalova, Ph. D. (Psychology). The Chair members regularly publish new manuals, methodological guides, recommendations and other materials for the teaching process.

The Chair members’ research findings, published both in Ukraine and abroad, are actively introduced into theoretical and practical courses for students and post-graduates. Our former students (now post – graduates) Y. Y. Fomenko and K. Y. Dombrovskaya are working on thei PhD dissertations in the areas: 19.00.01– “General Psychology, the History of Psychology” and 19.00.07 – “Age and Pedagogical Psychology”.

The Chair’s main achievements are as follows:

- all the teachers have Ph.D degrees in Psychology;

- research is carried out within the framework of the Chair’s “Formation of personality under the conditions of social transformations” scientific school;

- the teachers combine research with practical work as advisers while conducting training classes;

- the annual “Day of the Psychologist” introduces the students to the modern trends in scientific and practical activities in the area of psychology;

- the Chair closely collaborates with the other Academy units;

- the Chair participates in the PUA innovative projects, such as “50+” (continuing education for senior citizens), for instance.

The Chair is doing their best to ensure improvement of the learnners’ psychological competence.
